Auditions for the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders will take place this Saturday, March 29th.
Here are a few audition tips for becoming a Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, some even come straight from the girls that would know best, former Denver Broncos Cheerleaders:
- Brush up on your dance skills! If you have ever seen the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders perform, you know how skilled they are. I highly recommend enrolling yourselves in some Dance classes. When you do sign up, let them know you goal of becoming a Denver Broncos Cheerleader so they can assign you to the most beneficial classes. One of the best places to go in Denver, is the Shelly True Dance Academy, it is a dance academy ran by Shelly Trujillo, who works with the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders.
- Pick your outfit carefully. Ultimately, you should pick an outfit you are comfortable with and one that highlights your best features and skin tone, but think of what will also make you stand out. Hundreds of other girls will be showing up in plain black and white, so think of some other colors that will help you stand out from the crowd, but at the time looks best on you.
- Your look is very important. Being healthy, and getting into your best shape should be one of your top priorities. If you have ever seen the Denver Broncos Cheerleader outfits they are tiny, and pretty unforgiving. There are plenty of great gyms in the area to join, and they will also be able to recommend a nutrionist as well. One good suggestion is, former Broncos Cheerleader Holly Flaherty, who works as a personal trainer. You can check out her website here: http://www.hb-fitness.com/
- Also, make sure to practice styling your hair and make up for the big day. If you are not very good at styling your own hair, or doing your own make up, it would be best to find someone to help you. Ask your regular stylist in advance if she can get you ready the morning of the auditions, or ask a friend who you always thought wore her make up well. Go for a glamorous look when it comes to make up, and remember to wear your hair down! It might be easier to dance with your hair in a pony tail, but on audition day you should wear your hair down.
- This might seem like an obvious one, but read up on all the rules of auditioning at the official Denver Broncos website and fill out the application. You must be at least 21 years old as of July 15th, 2008 to make the 2008-2009 squad. There is other information on the website as well, such as what to bring (photograph and completed application), what to wear (aerobic/dance attire and comfortable dance shoes), the times, dates, locations, and any other important information. The website is here: http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=298
- Brush up on your sports knowledge, especially football. If you checked out the NFL Cheerleader Playoffs back in 2007, you would of seen how awesome Sarah Culter and former Broncos Cheerleader Catherine McEachern did in the NFL trivia round. Study the official Broncos website and get yourself familiar with the players if you are not already. For more sports information, legendary Broncos Cheerleader Renee Herlocker hosts a radio show with Mile High Sports. This will come in very handy during the interview process.
- The audition workshops are a great place for information. The workshop for this seasons auditions already took place in early March, but for next year, I highly recommend attending. It will give you an edge on the girls that don't attend, as it prepares you for the auditions and answers any questions you may have.
Above all, just have fun! The auditioning process can be stressful, but it's also meant to be fun. Even if you mess up a little, as long as you are having fun and doing your best that always counts for something. Good luck to everyone auditioning!
